Collection: Gold Forest

In coastal and inland sand deposits, or dune systems, sand moves constantly — carried, lifted, and redeposited by air currents. At a certain point called an ecotone (transition zone), grasses take root first. Their roots stabilize and enrich the surface. Shrubs follow. Over time, trees establish deeper root systems where moisture collects beneath the sand. The sand remains exposed and mobile. The forest grows where the ground can hold. Stability comes from rooting before branching.
