Collection: Umbra Phase

During a total lunar eclipse, Earth moves directly between the Sun and the Moon. The Moon enters the umbra — the darkest central region of Earth’s shadow. Yet the Sun does not stop shining on the moon. Red sunlight wavelengths continues into the umbra and softly reflect off the moon's surface even in the umbra.
